MILWAUKEE 鈥?The nation s largest French-themed festival is back in Milwaukee! Bastille Days is returning after a two-year hiatus and celebrations kicked off Thursday. The free four-day French festival is taking place in Cathedral Square. The event commemorates the storming of the Bastille, the 18th century prison that ignited the French Revolution. People can enjoy live music and entertainment, ample food options including French and Cajun cuisine, and an opportuni stanley becher ty to learn about the French culture.The festival draws nearly 200,000 people, and organizers say safety is top priority. We invested more in security this year than we have ever before, said Eddie Surkey, East Town Association executive director. We ve had a lot of discussions with the Milwaukee Police Department as well as have a fair amount of private security that will be on site. BROOKFIELD, Wis. 鈥?A 66-year-old Brookfield man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturd stanley mug ay night, a stanley tazas ccording to police.It happened just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of W. Capitol Dr., west of Calhoun Rd. Acco kubki stanley rding to a news release from police, the man was hit by two vehicles traveling westbound on Capitol Dr.The driver of the first striking car, a 57-year-old Brookfield man, was not hurt. He was arrested for hit and run involving death, police say. Criminal charges will be referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney s Office in the coming days, the news release says.The driver of the second car was an 18-year-old Brookfield woman.
