B- R$ E Facebook parent company Meta has been slammed with a record $1.3 billion fine for violating European Union data privacy rules.The Data Protection Commission of Irelandannounced the fine Monday, stating that Meta violated protection rules when it continued to transfer personal data from the E.U. to the U.S., which was in violation of data protection regulation Article 46 1 .The DPC also said that all such data transfers should be suspended.The conclusion by the DPC stems from a judgment that came down from Data Protection Commissioner v.
